Sunrise
Thanks to the last girl gang summer dinner on the island, for the reminder to watch the sunrise the next day.
Over Margarita’s on the rocks, warm olives, a bowl of french fries with salt and vinegar, a touch of sunburn and summer glow, we shared what we’d done for the day.
A craving for salt we all had, something about being out in the fresh air all day, the salt craving kicks in around cocktail-o'clock. The Margarita salt rimmed glass helped.
Two of my friends had set their alarms and ventured up to Camel Rock to watch the sunrise, their photos were enough for me to set the alarm for 4.30am this morning, it was worth it.
The beach was deserted, the moon was setting, the sand was cold. Then the day started to break, slowly. The water was calm, dark and flowing, I climbed up the sand dunes barefoot to Camel Rock and waited for the rays to poke out, which lit the water from Black to Indigo.
This will be the last weekend on the island for a while, it's been a warm treat, to have some spare time, read, Netflix, swim, read, Netflix, swim during the day, rest at random times, do yoga and pliates, stretch, and to just be myself with family and friends.
Sometimes we get pulled in all directions, it's nice to snip and reset.
Thanks Summer holidays.
