Being on the Hook

When you put yourself on the hook?

The essential part about putting yourself on the hook to create, is the commitment to take the steps of action. Unless there are actions it is just a dream, with all good intentions, not much happens, it stays a dream and no one is helped.

This past week was the week of actions, the first one being hopping on a plane to leave Australia, I wasn’t even sure if I’d get out of the country, every piece of administrative information, was either in paper or digital format, vaccines completed, the smallest bag possible so if I had to move fast I could, as I didn’t want to miss any connections, to my final destination Mumbai.

Or you can call it Bombay, both work as I’ve discovered this week. I landed in the city that I wanted to establish and build our essential base, several reasons drew me here which I will get too later down the track, once I’ve settled a bit more.

Some of the things we worked on this week

Being on the hook, good times abound every step feels like you’re in the zone, but other times, it is uncertain, doubt can creep in, routines are awkward. The morning walks, gym sessions, coffee catchups, family time, every normal part of the day is disturbed.

This is the part that makes being on the hook exciting, because you’re on the edge of your own competency and experiences, your taking on something that is daunting as a commitment.

Arriving into Mumbai at 1am, kindly guided by Keyur making sure all was safe and well, I was greeted by Husna, a taxi driver who stayed up late to drive me through the quiet streets of Mumbai, along the waterfront drive of Marine Parade, edging the Arabic Sea, past the Taj Hotel and turning left into a village like street, a small wooden doorway lead to my accommodation Abode. Cute quaint and cosy Hotel accommodation perfect for my initial set up.

Colaba, an island of South Mumbai is walking distance to museums, art galleries, every type of food cuisine, which I’ve managed to eat my way through. Luckily today I finally found, more like stumbled across a gym and have booked in for a one-hour intensive workout session with Mr Bhana.

I feel I have arrived back, just at the perfect time, yes there’s a virus floating around somewhere in the air, but personal responsibility to manage your own health is the way, it’s all about get on with life here, moving on, there are smiles on the streets behind masks. I can see in their eyes.

Stay tuned for more exploration updates as we start again, building up from Mumbai. These blogs aren’t about any self-promotion but if you want to read more about how we got here, my first book Embark is available, through the Naudic website, feel free to grab a copy.
